The full moon looks about 17 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than where it appears at its apogee, the farthest point of its orbit from the Earth, according to NASA. It’s also a supermoon, which occurs when the full moon is at its perigee, when its orbit brings it closest to the Earth.
